Kindergarten "I Sang A Solo!"

Today in Kindergarten, students volunteered to sing a song by themselves, which we learned was called a solo. The song is called "O Sinner Man", but students sing it without words on neutral syllables. One of the national standards for music education specifies that students should be able to sing by themselves a varied repertoire of music. In Kindergarten we start with short songs like this to get students comfortable singing in front of each other. That way, as they move up the grades, singing and chanting alone is no big deal! This is a video of one young boy singing his solo, and then he gets to sign the poster that says "Kindergarten: I Sang A Solo!".
