5th Grade Music

In fifth grade, students at South Elementary learn to play the ukulele. For more information on the ukulele program, click here. Using the ukulele, students improve their fluency in reading notes in the treble clef, improve the audiation skill of identifying chords and chord changes, and practice singing and playing an instrument at the same time.

As fifth graders, students are able to make more sophisticated musical decisions and let their audiation skills guide them in our activities. During the year, students are expected to make use of designated class practice time to improve their ukulele playing.
